No other VLE (virtual learning environment) is permitted for the delivery of CCT programmes. This is to ensure:

  • Automatic access to the VLE through the student enrolment process.
  • Consistent means of communicating with students collectively at the institution at a programme and a module level.
  • Consistent experience for students across and within programmes.
  • Appropriate integration with CCT-approved tools and management information systems.
  • Appropriate and consistent protection of personal data in accordance with CCT policy and GDPR.

Each module has a dedicated Moodle page which is clearly labelled with the module title. The Moodle homepage for each cohort must include:

  • The name and contact details of the lecturer.
  • A welcome message explaining the purpose of the module, the nature of blended learning within the module, and the number and type of assessments.
  • The student handbook.
  • A programme handbook (including or in addition to module descriptors).
  • Student timetable.
  • A  copy of the "Communication and Interaction in the Online Environment: A Guide for Students" document.
  • Details about the availability and location of support services and resources.
  • Consistently formatted pages from week to week.
  • Standardised terminology for departments, roles, learning instances, assessment activities etc.
  • Instructions for the use of any specific tools students will use and how to access them.
  • Link to the module reading list.
  • Direct links to academic integrity and referencing resources.

A number of enhancements have been made to Moodle at CCT. These include:

  • The installation of H5P interactive software.
  • The installation of the Accessibility Plugin which enables Moodle users to adjust the appearance of the Moodle page to suit their accessibility requirements.
  • The configuration of the activity completion function so that student progress can be tracked.
  • The installation of the Moodle Grid plugin for non-academic programmes e.g CCT Academic Integrity page and the CCT Centre for Teaching and Learning page.
